Personal Security=Personal Awareness
If the wording above, suggests you to think on what happened on 26/11 in Mumbai, then, you are on right track. But,let me clear you, this write-up does not just hang-up around what & how things happened & how everything went in wrong ways for India, initially, how many people died & how many injured or what compensation they got? It is about something else…,and quit based on the personal experience.
The experience, which I experienced, was not much terroristic, dramatic or anything that affected my lifestyle, but,it can be taken for a symbol of staginess of ourselves. That picture is still fresh in my mind as it happened to me just 5days after 26/11.
All India was & is in pain of the terror attack, every sensitive place, city has been put on high alert In country. Mall & theaters like public places are being scaned carefully…
The story begins in my preparation leaves, I was at home and as you know it can get worse alone. One evening, one of my colony mate,Varad, came to me asking for a company, to go on, for some window shopping in few malls of Aurangabad. He also told me that, get a list of good mobile handsets ready as he is planning to seek for their prizes & manage to buy one in his budget. And the program was fixed for next day 11:30am.
It was cloudy, we were at the entrance door of a mall. there were no people as it was odd day for shopping. only two if us were standing there I stickered my rains hitter that covered me to my knees & Varad to his helmet, just to keep in record that these things were belong to us and not from the mall stores.Varad was quit in hurry so he stepped in first through the metal detector's frame in, it beeped shortly. The guard there asked him for metallic accessories, he had a thumb ring and a waste belt with metallic buckle, he passed on, then I stepped in. It beeped again but with a quit a long beep this time. I told the guard that I have a waist belt, my bike keys, and my mobile phone, which I thought ,could be a reason for the beep. And next moment we both were set free to look around goods in the mall. The guard did not even told any one of us to show him what we actually had or did not took any effort to check us quickly on pockets just to confirm we were clean or not.
We went in, checked out for the mobile prizes & stepped out & and headed for next mobile destination. That was quit regular. But…what if we would have carried in something that can support terrorist activities, like guns or explosives or anything like that? And the most important thing is, it happened within week of 26/11.
Is it the awareness we have for us? The terror attacks happen before have shown clearly that, no buddy can have any clue while the action plane is in execution. It is technique of hide, kill & run. In Marathi it is called as "GANIMIKAWA" also known as "GUERRILLA FIGHTING" .And history is the witness of this war method in the age of Shivaji Maharaj.By this method, only few people , who have enough courage, can fight, against the enemy in abundant number than them…
It also becomes a depressing headache for the enemy to pick out & kill, any one of them. But if every buddy work in unity & keep a good and healthy communication with each others and attack at same time equally everywhere, then even this method can fail in no time.
India have a history of having done things that changed the way of world to look at us. Such as Aryabhatta invented zero and taught world how to count. Mahatma Gandhi taught how to fight and win wars without raising weapons. If one can do a huge work alone, imagine what we all can do together.
For that, every individual of us, has to keep an eye around us. If necessary gather together. We have festivals for that, make them count for this. The war against terrorism in not easy but its not impossible too, but, just a thing is that, we have to do it ourselves. Yelling to the failure of Government & waiting for the result of investigation on what went wrong, will never help us in this war.
The terrorist caught alive "Kasab" is a fidayee, he will never hesitate to kill 100s of us again if given one more chance to do so. Then why should we give them one more chance to put there toes on our head.
Out security is more in our hand, than in others. What we have to do is just be aware of our surrounding. If we say India is our country, then making it safe and keeping it safer is our job & responsibility. No buddy of us, never forget to put a lock on the front door of our house, before leaving it alone. Just to prevent it from others to break into & steal anything from it or make misuse of it. And India is already been misused for 150 years, then why should we keep it open for those, who are willing to do it again?
So be aware & be secured!!!
